KolaKube.com ~ The New Landing Page

Posted on December 20th, 2007 by Admin in the General Updates, Personal, Projects section

Today, I’ve been working on getting a really nice professional look for KolaKube and I finally got what I was looking for. A really simple look. I’ve been reading WebMediaBlogger recently and really liked the idea of this article. Basically, I won’t be showing a link to my services, as WMB says it sounds crazy although it encourages the visitor to email and get in touch which is better than someone just simply browsing your work and possibly forgetting to contact you or even just hit the little red ‘x’.

I’d like to know what you think of the landing page.

Regards,

James

Like what WMB says makes sense theoretically and all but still I’m really hesitant on believing that you can double, triple or quadruple requests just because people want to email you for your portfolio. A lot of fast, medium ranged clients get weeded out when they feel “small town” when emailing a designer asking for a quote or request. As well many people are lazy and don’t want to e-mail when there’s quite a few talented freelancers with open portfolios.

I think if you give personalized quotes through e-mail request its a bit more logical, but personally I’d just leave an open portfolio. Lot easier, and lets people have a sense of who you are and what you can bring.

The whole point is creating a demand so people WANT to see more of your work. However, I’ve seen few sites with your design live so I dunno if it’ll work.

Also, remove the blog because that shows your work anyways. I’d suggest taking all work down from the servers and creating a nice looking PDF to e-mail back to clients.
